FAQS/ORDERING ROCK ART FAQS: Rock art can be displayed just about anywhere which makes it such a unique art form. It never needs framing and makes wonderfuI gifts especially when custom ordered. I hand pick all of my river rocks at a local landscape company here in Tucson. I choose each rock depending on what I am going to paint. I do not normally alter the shape or texture of any of the rocks. I only scrub them with soap and water prior to painting. I have on occasion used JB Weld to bond rocks together. An example of that would be the snowmen in the photo gallery. When the work is finished, it is signed and dated on the bottom. Each rock that I paint is an individual work of art. No two finished rocks are exactly alike. Replicas can be made, but variations will occur. Rock art may be commissioned. If you have an idea or something specific in mind of what you would like painted on a rock such as a photo of something, please contact me via email or phone. I use Liquitex brand or Plaid Folk Art brand acrylic paints on all of the rocks. For heavy rocks I add felt to the bottom so that they don't scratch where they are placed. I suggest that newly purchased rock art is best kept indoors or in a protected area for prolonged enjoyment. If you do keep the rock art outdoors, it might need a very light sanding and recoated with the appropriate varnish about once a year depending on the wear. For sanding and recoating details please feel free to contact me. The rock art may be cleaned with a damp cloth (water & soap only) when necessary. Please do not use harsh or abrasive cleansers as they might ruin the finish of the art. TRADITIONAL ART FAQS: I also do commission work on paper, so if there is something that you would like done please contact me. For paintings I usually use Liquitex brand acrylic paints. For the colored pencil drawings I only use Prismacolor pencils and apply a coat of Krylon matte finish to protect the work & to prevent wax bloom. All drawings are done on artist quality acid free paper and stored in acid free poly bags. I only use artist quality archival canvas for my paintings and apply non-yellowing Liquitex brand varnish on the finished work which protects against UV damage. For more information about Liquitex paint please refer to www.liquitex.com ORDERING FAQS: When you place your order I will need to know a few specific details. 1. WHAT YOU WANT PAINTED: New ideas and pet portrait orders are always taken. I can draw or paint your pet, vehicle, house, etc on river rocks, paper or canvas. One of a kind, detailed art can be created from your photos. If you have an idea of what you want painted, but don't have a photo that is not a problem. I have a large selection of reference pictures. 2. SIZE: The size/weight limit for the river rocks is limited to the largest that I can safely handle myself. 3. WHEN DO YOU NEED THE ART?: Please let me know if the art work is needed by a certain time and I will let you know if that is possible. Most small to medium river rocks can be finished in 2-3 weeks. Smaller drawings (9"x11") can usually be completed in the same amount of time. Larger more detailed artwork (rock or paper) may take longer. Paint curing time must also be taken into consideration when planning an order. According to the Liquitex website, dry time is only when the surface feels dry, and cure time is "when the acrylic film is stable." It may take 3 days for thin paint applications to cure and up to 2 weeks or more for thick applications to fully cure. Paint must be cured prior to varnishing. I prefer not to send out art that is not fully cured. 4. CONTACT INFO: Your phone number or email are needed prior to starting the work. I may have questions regarding your commissioned piece and I can send progress photos if you wish. That way if you see corrections or changes that need to be made I can do them before it is finished & ready to send. When the work is finished I will send photo(s) for your approval. If you approve of the work then I will apply the clear coat/varnish to the art work. I would then need your shipping address and payment in order to send the art work. My contact information is at the top and right of the page. 5. PAYMENT: I currently only take checks and money orders. I am hoping that I can set up a Pay Pal system in the future. 6. SHIPPING: I will ship the art work within 2-3 days once the payment clears. I generally use USPS or UPS for shipping, but if you prefer something different that is not a problem. If you live near or in Tucson, AZ, I can possibly deliver it to a prearranged location. 7. FEED BACK: Please feel free to contact me about your order. I will reply as soon as possible. I always welcome new ideas and comments. You can leave comments and suggestions on my blog even if you don't order anything from me. I'm always trying to improve what I do and how I present it. PRICE FAQS: All art is priced according to the size, amount of detail and time involved. If you are looking for art in a certain price range please let me know and I will work with you. Most of the work in the photo gallery is marked with the price, size and any pertinent details. Prices shown do not include shipping. As with any art, it is an investment and can be enjoyed for years to come. Satisfaction is guaranteed on all commission work. WHERE YOU CAN FIND MY ART: I have work in Studio S'Evans gallery which is located in Cat Mountain Station outside of Tucson near the southern Tucson Mountain Park entrance. I also have some work for sale at the Arizona Art Supply store located at 4343 North Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85705. Phone: 520-388-5555.
